The gap between 500 m and 1 km is where the covered-walkway question lives. A kilometre under shelter is a different proposition from a kilometre across an open carpark, and that is not something a coordinate knows.
Distances are straight-line on SLA’s SVY21 grid, computed from each development’s own site coordinate. The walking minutes are derived from those straight lines at roughly 80 m a minute, which makes them a floor and not an estimate — the real walk is always longer, and in Singapore it is regularly a canal, an expressway or a fenced estate longer. Walk it once before you pay for it.
